Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has already started the war of words ahead of England’s meeting with Denmark in the Euro 2020 semi-finals.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has already started the war of words ahead of England’s meeting with Denmark in the Euro 2020 semi-finals.

The Three Lions booked their place in the last four of the tournament on Saturday night with a 4-0 dismantling of Ukraine. Meanwhile, Denmark managed to secure their place in the semi-finals by squeezing past the Czech Republic in Baku.

Mount is set to come up against a few familiar faces should he be selected to start. He will likely compete against Spurs enforcer Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the heart of midfield whilst also enjoying a reunion with Chelsea teammate Andreas Christensen.

The Three Lions midfielder has sent a warning that the Danes should expect a hostile reception and tough match four days ahead of the game.

Speaking after the victory in Rome, he said: “It is unbelievable to play at Wembley and all our group games and the Germany game were special, special games to be involved in.

“I was on the bench and now it is a semi-final at Wembley and hopefully we can get to the final. That has always been our goal from the start and has been our focus.

“It will be a special day and there will be a few more fans there as well to create the atmosphere.

“You are in the lion’s den and you have to come and perform. We are obviously going to try and give our best.”

Whilst Mount has sent a warning to Hojbjerg, Christensen and the entire Danish team concerning the reception at Wembley, he is still under no illusions as to how tough a game it will be against the Scandinavians.

“We played them not long ago,’ Mount continued. ‘We know what they’re about so every game is going to be tough.

“You’re in a semi-final so you have to bring everything. Just like they will.

“They’ll be passionate, we have to be ready for the battle. That’s what we have to do now.”

Should England overcome Denmark at Wembley on Wednesday, they will face either Italy or Spain in the final.
